I recently downloaded all the files from the download page.

Was installing the first file (WOW-2.0.0enUS), and it got about 79% complete, when it stated error:
"The file "Files\unconditional\user\Data\enUS\Interface\Cinematics\Logo_1024.avi" in archive "E:\Installer Tome 5.mpq" could not be opened, because an error 104 occurred. If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (MPQFile::OpenFromArchive)"

Any help?  I've tried installing twice now, with no success.

 - moved to the correct topic.

I don't know the exact anwser to your question, but I smell a corrupted installer.
You could try to move the installer to a different hard drive and re-install it again.

Maybe someone else encountered the same issue, my advice would be to use google for that error message (search for something like: "wow installer error 104")

I hope this helps!

I did some searching for error 104, theirs suggestions that a background application is affecting the install.

They suggest selective boot, or safe mode.  I've tried the first, didn't work, so I will try safe mode, if it doesn't work I'll attempt copying the install files over to a external harddrive and installing from there.

Cheers

Got it to work  Grin

It seems my issue was with having a cd in the cd drive.

I had Disc 1 of the retail version in the drive, which caused the installer to try to install from the E:/ drive for the .avi splash movie file.  However, the retail is v1.0.0 ish, and therefore wasn't working with the 2.0.0 installer.

Disc removed from drive, cd drive empty, problem solved, Installation complete.  Cool
