I figure not everyone nows about add-ons or even how to use them so I figured I'd post a Tutorial.

First off what are add-ons?
-Well They are programs that Very Nice people make that make a task easier and/or faster to acomplish. Plus it allows you to arrange your interface to fit your type of play. Note: A few examples of add-ons are advanced mail box, musicplayer in game, map mods that add waypoint arrows to objectives, and tons of useful stuff that is more class specific. (skys the limit basically)

Isn't that cheating or hacking?
-NO IT'S NOT!!! lol I don't know how many times i've heard that on retail wow. Add-ons Help not play the game for you XD

Where can I find add-ons?
- I get most of mine from http://www.curse.com/ there are other sites out there but I trust this one.

Well now I got this folder on my desk top wtf do I do with it?
- Well first you unzip it (if it is not already unziped) and then you want to cut/copy it into your "add-on" folder in your wow folder.
Note: sometimes add-on creaters will put the add-on folder with in another folder of the same label. You will want to remove it from this extra folder or it won't work.

And there you go thats the general idea if anyone has ?'s feel free to post or ask me in game ;-)

Oh and i'll tell you about my favorite add-on quick it's called "lightheaded" and it takes iinfo from the site "wowhead" and adds a little interface to your quest log. So you basically get ALL info needed to do any given quest. (i.e.-quards, lvl you should be, exp awarded, rep rewarded, and comments from other ppl who have done the quest.)
it's not found on the site I gave above though so you'll have to google/yahoo it.

(Edit)- So i've been back on legit wow for some time now figured i'd pay a visit and update this bitch \o/.

I've stoped using lightheaded all together now and now use an add-on called "quest helper" I recomend this add-on strongly because it will cut your lvling time down drastically. I was also introduced to "deadly boss mods" and/or "Big Wigs" they are raid mods that give audible and visable alerts to all of the higher end instances which is realy handy for those first timers or even vets.

Ok well im out peace <( ' ')/

I would like to add to this. The most useful addons I've used are:

Auctioneer
http://auctioneeraddon.com
Auctioneer is an addon that enhances the auction house and allows you to view information about an item that may be useful in helping you determine what it's worth.

EndBags
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/3280/
A serious all-in-one bag enhancement with auto-sorting. VERY COOL.

FuBar
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/search/?q=fubar&g=1
One of the best toolbars out there for WoW. Shows your gold, bags, durability, ammo, time to next level, damage per second, friends, skills, ect. TONS of add-ons to FuBar. Many people use TitanBar but FuBar can be configured to look like TitanBar.

MetaMap
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/1978/
Adds a TON of functionality to your map (like Show Unexplored Areas).

WIM (WoW Instant Messenger)
http://www.wimaddon.com
Adds a "MSN Messenger" type of dialog to chat windows. Makes whispering a lot easier.

A really great (and free) tool that auto-updates, installs, and uninstalls add-ons for WoW is WoWMatrix.

http://www.wowmatrix.com

I highly suggest using this tool even if you don't use these addons.

And last, but not least...

MapWoW
http://mapwow.com
This isn't a plugin but just imagine Google Maps except it's for World of Warcraft!

and

Allakhazam
http://wow.allakhazam.com/search.html?q=&locale=enUS&source=live
The best WoW database on the web with full search. Also has a free search plugin for Internet Explorer and Firefox (see link).

That's all I can think of at the moment. Happy playing!

Just thought I'd throw my two cents in. As a former raid leader and class lead for a raid guild on retail I've got a few suggestions. The first would be ORA2, not needed half as much as it once was, but still, its nice and the second is a near must have. Omen, possibly the best threat meter out there right now for multi-target threat monitoring as well as ease of use for those folks who aren't particularly used to working with threat monitors. Hopefully some folks find these helpful, and if anyone ever needs summore suggestions, just PM me. One of these days I'll write up a suggestion package for each class, but until then, what's already been said and these two should take care of y'all nicely. BTW just a quick site some folks might want to check out, for these addons and quite a few that have been mentioned earlier, would be WoWAce.com. Happy hunting

I use the following Addons religiously.

X-Perl Unit Frames
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

(La Vendetta) Deadly Boss Mods (kinda wierd for some scripts, IE Gruul's script on Wowrage doesn't match up with the one in Retail, which makes this mod essentially useless, unfortunately.)
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/4940/

Natur Enemy Castbar
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/2786/

Necrosis (warlock specific addon, very smexy)
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/10323/

MobInfo 2
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/1349/

Titan Panel
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/618/

Omen threat Meter (very necessary for raiding.)
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/9101/

All in all it takes some adjustment (approx. 45 minutes+ to set up the way I want them, but I'm picky hehe), but it has everything I need for PVE or PVP.

The latest Lightheaded is only for the patch 2.4.
On this server it won't work. The version that works is the 0.176 version.
