Hi there!

I'm trying to get the wowrage server to work, and every time I encounter the same error (validation error, which I see a few other people have had issues with) OR the WoW login screen freezes.  I have followed all the steps meticulously, have run wow repair and re-installed all patches up to 2.3.3, and have delete patch.MPQ etc.  Nothing seems to be working - is it possible it is downloading 2.4.0 even though I tell it not to, and that is causing the error?  This is really frustrating :/

Some might laugh, but if you did all that and stiil not working... check for viruses, trojans... reinstall windows.

ok so if it's not that either, there might be a hardware problem... get memtest and check your ram.

Wow kept trying to automatically updated to 2.4, and basically the patches were just all installed wrong and being weird.  But I wrestled with them and emerged triumphant!  Not sure about the freezing, though, as I am now having a problem whilst playing where it keeps freezing in-game (for varying intervals - from around 4 seconds to about one minute), especially when I'm talking and/or around NPCs...

Man, install it again and patch it manually (not by launcher.exe). Have you tried that?

yah well this is the second day in a row and im on a MAC and cant figure out how the heck to downgrade. deleted patch.mpg but cant find the repair.exe please advise

I'm not familiar with Macs but Double check the Blizzard forum on how to downgrade patches with your OS.  That's probably the best place to start mate.
