I am rather split as to which side I prefer, my current character is an Undead warrior, only because all my friends play Horde. My original character (blizzard trial account) was a Human Paladin, which I enjoyed immensely. the biggest problem with the Hord is that only the Blood Elves (Which are Gay) can be Paladins. If I could play an undead Paladin, I'd be happy, but until that time I'll favor Alliance and play Horde.

Oooooookay.  I've seen some pretty strange reasons to go one way or another.  Here are the various factors that should go into creating a character:

1) You like the way they look.  Nothing's worse than staring at an avatar you dislike. This is the #1 reason to roll any race, because this is the reason you'll enjoy it the most.
2) The race compliments the class you like playing most.  Some examples would be tauren making excellent prot warriors due to their +5% health, stunning warstomp and nature resistance.  Likewise, gnomes make the best alliance casters due to their +5% intellect racial bonus.  If you don't care what your character looks like, pay attention to the racials before deciding.
3) Unless you're determined to be that special race, pick a race that can be your favorite class.  If you really want to be a warrior, don't settle for being a paladin just to be a blood elf.

I personally like alliance.  Alliance, to me, has the hot factor (hot women: humans, draenei, elves), and Horde has the cool factor (they do look pretty badass).  But I like having hot avatars that I enjoy staring at while I play, lol.  And don't let other people sway you from one side or the other.  Horde is only extremely popular on this server because entire guilds have switched from retail to wowrage.  Alliance will get to the point Horde is at, slowly but surely.  It took Bickered Wit a couple months to get to Kara, too.  So don't think "oh well Horde is where all the cool people go", because that's not true.

Well, this topic certainly has generated some interesting results. Personally, I think that any faction is what you make of it. When you talk about any faction being immature, you're talking about the people who play that faction. I think the Alliance are a natural choice of those first trying the game out and going from there, and I think horde get a lot of the people who have played alliance so long they want to try something new. Almost universally, those who have a powerful horde character have also played alliance as well. Especially on this server, most of those boasting their knowledge of game and game play have admitted to playing both factions to keep up pvp.

On the game side of things, both factions have multiple strengths and weakness, but I don't think either of them are so strong as to say that it's the absolute best. (Particularly since every time something is good, blizzard eventually comes along and messes it up again) Earlier we discussed the fact that a Hunter/Druid 2v2 combo was the highest on the rating list, and as a druid that's kinda nice to know that your class can be on the top, but I've also seen that particular combination pwnt, and have been beat myself, which means that it's obviously not just the class, and I've also seen really good players defeated by noobs who caught them in a difficult situation. Simply put, there are too many factors involved to state that either faction is universally better. Once again, it's what you make of it.
