WoW Level 70 Speed running!
«

So. Got bored at 4 am yesterday, and thought, hey, lets try a shaman for 30 minutes before I go to bed. 3 hours later, it's off for sleep!
...
Wake up, played for a few more hours, being it boxing day, special dinner and all, so, back on at midnight...
4 hours later, ding! Level 70. Total time played: 10 hours 15 minutes!
...
Anyone wanna make a competition of it?

It is a legitimate concern that players are reaching the top levels without any polish whatsoever, or lacking vital basic class skills. Shaman without totems for example are much less useful to themselves, to a group, or to a raid- than one who does have them, and who knows how to use them.
Those racing to 70 to alleviate boredom, I wish you well, for in the end you will have what you least sought perhaps, and most expediently.
...
Congratulations, in any case.
Greetings

/agree w/above
Learning to play your class is important. But I hope somebody takes the challenge, even if it isn't my cup of tea I'm interested to see what becomes of it.

Got a bit carried away with it all really in boredom. It certainly is true that it's a bit too easy to get up there though, perhaps the XP from 60 to 70 might benefit from a reduction, if that's possible. Level 68-70 in less than 15 minutes is a little silly really.
Although of course, as the server grows in numbers, there will be more incentive to be a lower level, if people want to 'twink' for example, they'd enforce a natural level 'cap' or band upon themselves at any rate. People at the moment don't really bother, since most people are happy enough waltzing up to 70, given the ease that it's achievable by.
As for 'learning to play your class', at least a quick dash to 70 can give you a little taste of what that class is like at the top end, so if you decide to play one properly, you'll have a better idea of what you might enjoy. Personally, that was my first and only experience with a Shaman ever, and I found it quite fun - Mage is a little dull, being a pure casting class, whilst Warrior/Rogue and to some degree, Paladin, can get a little boring in regards to almost constant meleeing.
Those points aside, I don't know if it's necessarily a problem that people can level with skills 15 levels below their current, as in, level 15 coldbolt as a level 30, it WOULD be possible on retail afterall, just that the harder kills add such a large amount that it makes it little more difficult. Really, to some extent, that creates another natural cap on levelling speed, as people would have to break off to run back to their trainers to learn the next 'batch' of spells, skills or abilities.
All in all however, given the current server climate -with still a relatively low active population, the incentives to stay a low level are virtually non-existant at the moment. Even so, I wouldn't mind if the top end of levelling was reduced a little, afterall, the Outlands quests were a noticable jump in experience gained relative to the difficulty and complexity of the quest for me on retail, that's just being overly amplified here.
I'll cease rambling all the same, maybe next time I'll play a class properly and get to learn it.

Actually I think I'm for some part having to agree with you. Although hitting 70 was nice, I hadn't explored much of outland at all, and done only a few quests. 1-60 let me explore a lot of areas and do a lot of quests. but 60-70 seemed rather fast.

You got a point idd, it can be done by patching the ascent core.
Maybe it's a good idea to start a poll on this, since it would be a big change in the play experience on this server.

I don't know about a particularly large impact on the 60-70 range at any rate, if you include 1 to 70, then it would be a pretty big 'deal' so to speak.
As for 60 - 70, you tend to end up at 63 barely an hour or two after you enter Hellfire, you'd be 65 or even 70 by the time you could get a group together for a run of the Ramparts for example. That alone is another reason to perhaps tweak it a bit, as people will have even less experience of Outlands instances and raids.
Overall though, perhaps 25x and 30x are a little too high. Perhaps 15x and 20x would work a little better. Just throwing random numbers out though really, but given the ease it currently is, it would provide fewer complaints of people trying to level on underpowered (for their level) gear and skills, given that they'd have more downtime and more drops to find better gear as they go along. Although of course, then you'd get people complaining that it now takes too long, if they're used to levelling in a day or two!
Personally though, I'd prefer people complaining about levelling 'too slowly', rather than masses complaining about having poor equipment and skills. Aside from those however, if gold and equipment drops are left at the current rates, there would be less people complaining about having no gold for skills, and thus fewer 'gold beggars'.

I wouldn't worry about beggars too much, there aren't really any problems with that when you get to outland, it's just worth noting that there will always be beggars, and with a little management you can keep on top of your finances through 1-60. Leave us some challenge.

To bring this post back to the point... Is the time you set invalid now Triggs has changed XP rates?

If you dont like a mage i'm shocked, they're one of the funnest / best classes around. The most sufficient classes as well. a mage can make his own food and brew
a mage can do a TON of dps. they're hard to kill............
