Over the past couple months, I've watched this server go from something awesome to being filled with arbitrary rules that correct "problems" that barely exist. Glitches, crashes, those things I can understand, and I'm thankful that the server is being developed and worked on constantly. But when things aren't broken, don't fix them.

I eventually got used to the increased higher level grind. That's fine. What's another day or so to get to 70. But now my alts are banned from the LFG channel? I've tried joining other channels to get some interaction like "global" or "under50", but no one seems to be using them. Is there some solution to this problem?

What I liked about this server was that, while bugs were being worked on, there were no arbitrary limits set on players. Those things used to all be left alone. I guess maybe that's because the server was still new. Now I see it turning into what other private servers are, which sucks, because I still really like this server. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't care that it's losing its spirit of fun that it started with.

All I ask is that blanket policies aren't placed on the server in an effort to control minor annoyances. You can't control minor annoyances out of existence, and you can't predict the negative consequences of placing overarching policies into action.

I want to restate that I like this server and I still think it's the best private server out there. Let's keep it that way.

Getting back the old LFG system is not a option.
This is just because it was impossible for the GM's and most of the regular players to even start a normal conversation without people who can't (or refuse to) read/beggers or advertisers interrupting every single time.
It's possible that some of us see this as a minor problem, but for others (likely most) it is a big issue (ever tried joining a chat while being a known GM?).
Not even to mention what it will be like in a few months from now, looking at the servers growth rate...

Taking this problem + the fact that 95% of the people who can not behave in LFG are < lvl50 and the world channels being under development at the time we came up with a possible solution...opened a discussion about it and finally made a fix.

I am a bit disappointed by reading this topic, I was hoping for people to come up with improvements rather then just complain about other peoples ideas. Undecided
We really are doing our best to make the wowrage server as pleasant as possible for everyone (that includes me and my fellow gm's!).

I'm wondering why you didn't share your idea..?
A public (auto join) < lvl50 channel seems to me as a possible solution.
Maybe opening LFG for everyone who has just a single lvl50 char on the server is a possibility as well, so players with at least one lvl50+ char on the server can join LFG using their low level char.

If you come up with some good ideas I'm always willing to implement them in my (yes, most of us got a regular job) own spare time.
Just remember that issues like these are open for discussion and can be tuned/modified afterwards!

I see your concerns, but honestly I believe the level cap is for the best.  It really stops the "GM GM HALP ME PLEASE" "I NEED GOLD" and spamming of other servers.

I honestly think you might be over reacting a little bit, its just a global channel, its not like they're adding armor and weapon vendors or something.

I have an elegant point-by-point rebuttal if this doesn't suffice:

"HAY D00DZ, NE1 PLAYERS ONLINE??!?Huh"

I see good points and all that. I'm a reasonable guy. I just wanted to point out the negative aspects of the overall trend I see on private servers to jump to drastic measures for things that are mildly annoying. Like I said, I still think the server is great. I hope it stays up for a long time.

I just would like to see less of the "oh shiii, there are noobs on, let's institute drastic policies to correct this," without much consideration for the fact that there will be unintended consequences that make things less fun for everyone.

Nevertheless, I'm making a note here: huge success.

Just liek whats said on the LFG thread. It's people abusing the rights and not listening to the gm's and Do nothing to help their selfs that make things get changed. If people can't have the respect for the gm's that Do not get paided to baby sit them. Then things liek this happen. Being a noob has nothing to do with it. it's the random retards that abuse the rights and just don't care.  As for the LFG chat. We have one and it's alittle better then what it was before. Peopel have the abilitiy to Join other chats or even join guilds.

Also remember that while the majority of people causing problems are noobs, not all noobs are problem causers. I have never been an immature noob (to my knowledge), even when Szanguine was level 1.

On the other hand, I didn't even know the LFG channel existed until I read this thread. Tongue

Hi all,

I'm new to this server, so i thought i'd give my 2 cents.  I did that already in a prior (possibly newer) post, but basically it's so quiet that sometimes i do a /who just to make sure there are actually other horde on the server!  last time there was 14 horde and 4 or 5 were 60-70.
As far as the channel solution, I must say that the lack of chuck norris/yo'momma jokes is refreshing, but i was wondering if there might possibly be a way for the "lowbie" non-noobs to apply for world channel rights?
I realize this might involve more trouble than it's worth but i'm not sure if the GMs realize what lowbies are going through right now.  I'm no noob, but i'm new to the server.
someone on a prior reply said that they were disappointed that there are complaints but no solutions so here are a few thoughts - again, i'm not sure what is involved so you will have to decide the viability on your end... hope that's ok...

1.) have an auto-join channel for lowbies
2.) Have a world channel that must be manually joined (this stops the noobs/spammers that are too lazy to read the forums from joining the channel)
3.) Have a general spam channel!  Spam is out there, we can't fight it. If we give the A.D.H.D. kids an outlet it may not be such a bad thing.. Remember: you can always leave a channel if you don't like what you're reading (type /leave #). You may even be able to call it "Generalspamchat" If you're trying to hold a conversation (imho) it is usually better to hold a real conversation in whisper or party chat (if situation allows) anyway.
Just ideas... I don't like being negative but it's not very encouraging that I have to be lvl 50+ just to talk to someone....

A clear example of "what has happened to this server."

...

No amount of chat channels will aid that.

I have a great idea. Limit the number of players allowed on the server.

That is my idea. I like it.
