I got an error message when i load to play that says unable to validate the install of burning crusade, i already had all the WOW yp dates and was at latests patch, what do i do now?

Please make sure you have only the 2.4.2 version Client and Patches, not 2.4.3 (lower left hand corner of the client login window)

It looks like you'll want to revert your installation of World of Warcraft back down to version 2.0.0, then patch up again to 2.4, then to 2.4.1, and lastly to 2.4.2 -- if you have a broadband internet connection and a decent PC, this whole operation could take as little as an hour.


1. Delete patch.MPQ from the Data folder   [ C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data ]

2. Run the Repair utility executable  [ C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\repair.exe ]

3. Download  the  2.x → 2.4.0 Full Patch (~923-1130Mb) (http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors) then decompress it, and run it:

4. If you have the 2.4 → 2.4.2 patches already downloaded, simply run them in order by clicking on them in your World of Warcraft folder. If not, just connect to the default official realms and let the default launcher patch your install up a couple times. Login and Passw can be anything for that.


** Be sure to change your realmlist.wtf according to our connection guide, once you are all patched up to 2.4.2 **

I know im replying to my own post but i want to clarify something or ask something. when i first install WOW its at 1.21.0.5595, then i install TBC, then 2.0 to 2.4.0 then 2.4.0 to 2.4.1 then 2.4.1 to 2.4.2? because i did install, all patches then tbc and it doesnt work, and from reading the all the forum stuff, there is no actual post that says do it exactly like this or that. so im gonna do it like this....

#1 Fresh install of WOW 1.21.0.5595
#2 TBC = 2.0
#3 2.0 to 2.4
#4 2.4 to 2.4.1
#5 2.4.1 to 2.4.2

and another thing, as of when my wife logged in a minute ago, theres another patch to 2.4.3 from blizzard, im takin it if i get that i wont be able to play on wowrage correct?

-we are only supporting 2.4.2 at this time, and i have no official suggestion yet when 2.4.3 will be ready for the live server.

ok thats understood, and i wont get it, ill just copy to another folder, call it wowrage, and play that for this server and regualr wow folder for blizz, but what about my question, do i have the right procedure for the install to play here, becuase i dont wanna do this a 3rd time trying to install it, messed it up once, and im not into doing things over and over, as with many i presume, so if i got it right i'll proceed if not corrrect me please.

i to em having problems with patch 2.4.3 i think it has automatically installed on my pc ? does this mean i will not be able to play wow.rage till the server upgrades to this patch ?  Embarrassed

If you have installed everything perfectly, you can check it out in your main folder. Normally c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\
